Acupuncture Treatments

Acupuncture is the placement of tiny needles into specific locations on the body (typically where nerve bundles and blood vessels come together), for the purpose of healing. Acupuncture points are very specific anatomical locations on the body.

Veterinary acupuncture is beneficial because it lacks potential side effects that come along with many prescription or over-the-counter drugs. Additionally, acupuncture will not interfere with whatever medications your pet may be taking. Acupuncture can be useful for pets suffering from several different medical conditions.

Aquapuncture

Aquapuncture is another method of acupuncture that involves the injection of a small amount of liquid into acupuncture points.  Typically, I utilized physiological sodium chloride mixed with B vitamins.  A small amount of the solution is injected into the acupuncture point to be treated. This process is much quicker and works very well in patients that may not want to stay still for a 15-minute dry needle acupuncture session.

Electroacupuncture

Electroacupuncture is a form of acupuncture that involves the placement of dry acupuncture needles into specific points on the body and passing a small electrical current between them with electrodes. Treatments last between 15- 20 minutes.  This treatment is optimal for acute paralysis and paresis and acute herniated intervertebral disc problems.
